A mini mudroom {DIY}

I have just completed creating a mini mudroom for my home.  Don't we all just need a little space to dump our things.  Shoes, jackets, backpacks, purses...I know we do in this home.  It helps keeps all that clutter in a designated space.  In our new home we have the perfect 43" wall that needed something like a "mudroom" made for it.  So, I got to thinking and searching for how I wanted this space to come together.  I wanted to use weathered woods, rustic hooks, and was dying for a bench with hairpin legs.  From those little ideas I started looking for products.  I talked about how my new coat rack came about in this post.  On to the bench...

My husband found a piece of weathered wood that was just the right thickness, it wasn't quite 2" inches.  He cut it down to size and sealed it with boiled Linseed oil.  I wanted to let the natural color and grain of the wood show through so I didn't care to use a stain.  At the same time I couldn't just leave it alone because with two kids in this house spills happen.  I found an amazing company online that sells hairpin legs in all different heights.  I was so excited to make this purchase because I knew it was the element that was going to really show-off in this area.  The process of making the bench was a simple one...a few screws and it was complete.

I had made up some plans for my hubby (cause that's how we work), I design it and he makes it.  Perfect teamwork!

I'm so excited how it turned out!  It has really added a place of purpose and of design to our new home.
