Newest designs {big boy room and a nursery}

I love when my mock-up design boards can spur new ideas for actual clients.  That is exactly what happened after I completed the design board in the previous post.  I had two different clients both love the color scheme.  For me it was super fun to design two spaces, both for boys without using blue.  It can be done and it can be amazing.  I can not wait to show you completed pictures of these two spaces.  I've seen a sneak peak of the nursery one and it is looking amazing!

Gray, yellow and blue nursery {girl nursery design board}

I've recently finished a mini e-design for a client that I wanted to share with you all.  I love when clients come to me mid-design when they are just stumped on where to go next with a space.  I usually see that they are on such a good track already and I just get to really pull it all together for them.  In this case the gray patterned rug, the yellow glider and the day bed duvet were already purchased.  I got to finish up all the other items and am super excited to see it all comes together.  What was really fun about this mom was that she loved pattern play.  So we have some bold patterns in this nursery, but I hope you are able to see the balance between them all.  Playing with scale and movement of fabrics is what will help not make it all look the same.  The bold stripe of the curtains off-set the round medallion pattern of the Pottery Barn duvet cover so nicely.  Here is the design I have come up with.

Next Exit {blue, yellow and gray nursery}

I love finding inspiration from just about anywhere.  I tend to look at items for more then what they are.  For example, I used to have the cutest geometric patterned drapes in my old house that so many people wondered where I found them...they were actually two tablecloths.  Yep...tablecloths are long and wide and usually reasonably priced, so add some drape clips and voila, instant drapes.  It wasn't shocking to me then when I was perusing around the Tiny Prints site the other day that I came across an adorable, kind of retro, baby shower invite that completely inspired a color scheme for me.  I loved the tones of blues, yellows and grays in this invitation:

Like I do whenever I find some good inspiration, I started designing a nursery around it.  This nursery has some new fresh elements like the Oeuf Sparrow crib and the West Elm rug, but I love the way these new items work with the Frank Reenskaug danish rocking chair and the retro arrow print art.  I love mixing items in a space to allow the feel of the room to travel time rather then look like it's straight out of a catalog.  I think this nursery really shows that.

Here is an enlarged version of the room without the inspiration invite.  I think this blue, gray and yellow nursery would be such a cute space for a little baby boy.

Little Monster {grey, yellow and aqua nursery}

I'm excited to share another clients design concept with you.  I completed this design a few months ago, but failed to share it.  I can't believe that cause I just love it!  My client wanted grey, yellow and "another color."  So I had fun incorporating shades of aqua.  My most favorite is all the patterns and yet, it all still feels so calm. My client and I both have Boston Terriers, so I loved the idea of framing an illustration of a Boston Terrier and incorporating it into the space.

Busy bee {black, white and yellow nursery}

Picking a color scheme can be tricky...you want it to fit into your home's personality as well as your own.  I love a simple color palette of black and white.  You can introduce any color you want to add a little pop!  Today I thought I'd find you some inspiration if you are looking to do a black, white and yellow nursery.  I love how each of these spaces have just the right bit of yellow.  Some of the touches come from paint, others come from accessories.  Take a look...
