Black and white mudcloth pillows {my fav ladies}

I am constantly suggesting a fun assortment of pillows to my clients and constantly get asked by others where I find them all.  Well, I thought I'd do a quick round-up of my favorite ladies busting out some of these black and white mudcloth beauties. Be sure to click on the links to check out all the other amazing items they sell in their shops.  With the holidays coming up it is always nice to support small businesses.

Making waves {ocean themed decor}

My little fam is made up of huge lovers of the ocean.  My husband surfed for a living for many years and has seen many parts of the world.  My son before the age of 5 was standing up on his surf board catching waves.  My daughter is pretty good at making Barbie surf on her kick board and I'm just amazing at sitting on the beach. =)  Needless to say, we are at the beach a lot watching the waves, so I thought I'd share some ocean themed items that are just adorable to put in a kids room.

I've been a huge fan of this wave wallpaper for such a long time.  It is perfect for an accent wall in a nursery or kids room.

The cutest whale puzzle made out of Ombre waved shaped pieces...seriously the cutest!

Love this abstract take on a wave print for this blue and while pillow.

I love this print and the way the Ombre effect makes it look like the ocean.

Be sure to contact me if you are planning on creating an ocean room for your little one...I've got plenty of other items to fit with this theme.

Fun, graphic pillows {Good by Grinn}

I have recently discovered a great company, Goods by Grinn, who makes the most fun pillow covers.  I already have two for my home and have already suggested them to a few clients.  They are great in price and size and the quality is spot on.  Most of the pillows are printed on a white cotton canvas so they are light and bright and great in durability.  Pillows withstanding the pillow fights that my kids love to have, are a must!

I wanted to share a few of my favorites.

Be sure to head over to Goods by Grinn to search through the entire line of pillows...you won't be disappointed.

Black and White Pillows {my favorites}

Are any of you fans of black and white decor?  I had never had any pieces in my home up until a year ago.  I have a few now and I just love how they interact with all my other pieces I've had for years.  It's amazing how a simple black and white blanket has added such a pop to my sofa.  And how that black and white chevron hand towel (that I think we all got from Target) has added such personality to my kitchen...

I wanted to gather my most favorite black and white pillows for you in case you're looking to add a bit of black and white decor to your home.

#1 I have one my son's bed actually and you'd be surprised by the quality of it, as well as the insert it comes with.  Got to love Ikea.

#2 is such a creative pillow.  It uses Ikea wide striped fabric, but is sewn into a chevron pattern.  You can find it at Thfabricate's etsy shop when they get back from vaca.

#3 and #4 are from Fine Little Day and I absolutely adore them!

#5 is from Ikea as well, but is such a great lumbar size I had to include it too.

#6 is so graphic and so fun.  You can find it at Mazizmuze's etsy shop.

And I have to say my logo doesn't look too shabby amongst all that black and white fun!

Happy shopping!

It's a cushion not a pillow

I just fell upon these adorable cushions (pillows) designed by textile designer Becky Baur from the UK.  Her collection features some pretty quirky animals that just need to be in a little ones room!

There is no need to explain them any more then that...you just need to see them!

 How cute are they?  They are definitely pieces you could base your nursery or kids room after.  The little red riding hood one...so fun!  Or the peacock pillow, its so simple, but love the hearts in the feathers.  And that woodland badger...I could have fun creating a space with that pillow.

Happy Cinco de Mayo...hope its been a beautiful Saturday for you all!

Fabric galore

I LOVE when fabric arrives!  Does anyone else get excited when you get new fabric? I just know a transformation is about to occur when I get a box of this yummy goodness.  So, last night was like a mini Christmas when the fabric for my kids room arrived, along with a bit for my family room.  Lets just say the sewing machine is making noise and there is thread everywhere today.  Yay!  Can't wait for lots of new pillows.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go!

Today was supposed to be race day...and you only know what I am talking about if you live with a Nascar fan or are one yourself.  I happen to live with one, two actually, my son has become a fan.  So, because the men in my life love the Daytona 500, I thought I'd create a design board using cars as my inspiration.  I love the use of vintage, rustic and modern.  They play off of each other, almost without letting any one be the shining star.  The teal and yellow colors also liven up the space with different finishes and patterns.

Weekend in review

So, it has been a weekend of projects.  I love weekends like that.  The kids room continues to get new bits here and there.

The book wall has gone up, the old black bookcase has been sold, (Love Craigslist) and the window bench has been partially constructed.

The zipper-like pillow on the far right is from IKEA.  It is only $12.99 and comes with the feather insert!  It has a velvety texture to it and my son is very excited about.

The book wall was created with the Ribba picture ledges from IKEA and you will be so surprised how cute it turns out.  I'm sure many of you have seen it in other kids rooms, but it truly is a great way to display books and not take up floor space.  I love the positioning we did cause for now the bottom shelf is my daughters (she's 17 months), the middle shelf is my sons (he's 4 1/2) and the top shelf they can't touch.  That is where the classics and the special books are kept.

We are slowly, but surely on our way to a new room for the kids.  Can't wait to be able to show the entire room completed.

On another note, I found a very helpful tool for all you Pinterest lovers.  When you are on a website, whatever it may be, highlight the text you would want to appear in your description box and then hit your Pin It button.  Go...do it right now...are you so excited...now you don't have to remember the name of an item, come up with something yourself, all of the above!

That is my weekend in a nutshell...DIY and Pinterest haha

Dandelion

There is something about a Dandelion that I love.  Its softness, its freeing ways...it's so similar to a child.  It exudes tenderness, so why not use it in a nursery?  Today I've played with this theme and created a space for a little lady.

Pillow fight!

I have a huge love for pillows.  You can ask my husband and son, who, DON'T!  It's OK.  I'm the designer so what I say, goes. =)  They are easy to just set aside on the floor anyway, problem adverted.
Back to my love of pillows.  I have found a few lately that I just had to share.
I kind have a little obsession with these... you can find them at Serena & Lily

And I definitely can't deny my love of Caitlin Wilson...

I have always loved the sweetness that Pom Pom Home exudes...you can find this one on Layla Grace

And this Ikat is pretty phenomenal!  Check out the Etsy shop it came from

And lastly, this buck pillow that may make an appearance on my sons bed, also found on Etsy

Keep up with my obsession search for more adorable pillows on my Pillow Fight! pinterest board
