Nautical Nursery {room tour}

This nursery has been so much fun to work on.  I have known the soon-to-be mommy for years and this is her first baby.  She wanted a super special nursery for her little guy, but just wasn't in love with the room that would be his nursery.  They currently rent the most unique beach cottage that is just full of character.  Some times "character" can be seen as a hindrance, but I was excited to make it a special piece of this nursery.  Here are a few before shots of the space so you see what I was working with:

The walls were covered in two different types of wood going in two different directions with a back wall with a very useless wall cubby.  It was time to get to work and make this space special.
My design board for her looked like this:
As with all designs...things change slightly and usually for the better, so you'll see a few tweaks that were made in the final room.

Now for the room, get ready for photos overload.

I hope you have enjoyed this little tour.  The best part about this nursery design for me is that the mommy now says this is her favorite room in her house.  That she loves the originally wood walls and even that ceiling.  All the character that was initially viewed as unattractive, is now serving a design purpose and I just adore it.  I can't wait to meet this little guy in a few short weeks!

Aloha Baby {completed nursery}

I am so excited to share with you today a client's nursery that is completed.  I love what I do, helping others have a beautiful space, one that they love and want to spend time in.  With my E-design service I have been able to "meet" some amazing women from all over the country.  Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma to name a few...and for this particular nursery; Hawaii.

You may remember the design I created for this nursery.

Yesterday afternoon I received such a fun surprise...photos of this completed space.  I love when this happens.  Part of this E-design service that I don't necessarily get to see is how the design I create gets executed.  I'm loving this space!

A huge thank you to my client for sharing this opportunity with me!  And congratulations on becoming a new mommy!

A map of the...

city!  How adorable are these maps I found on Etsy?  How fun to claim your city and put a map of it in your home, but have it featured as art?!  I was doing research for a new client and came across this Etsy shop called Jenna Sue Maps. She does an assortment of cities and you can choose your own color.  This is the one I loved...
it is of Naples, Italy and if you can believe it I am Italian...red hair and all!  But, for my client I loved the peachy color and I think it will be a perfect fit...we just need to choose the correct city.  So, would you add a map of your city somewhere in your home?  Or maybe one from where your great grandparents came from?

Scalloped

I've been seeing a lot of scalloped print textiles creeping into the world of design.  It's a fun, new trend to follow in the chevrons footsteps.  I don't think chevron is out, but I like how the scallop is a bit softer.  Here are a few fun finds...

scallop pattern lampshade map from map circles...two trends in one!

Are you liking the scallop prints?  What have you seen that you've loved?

Paris

....have you ever been to Paris?  I haven't.  I haven't ever traveled out of the country.  Some day.  How cute is this new wall art from Land of Nod though?  It is a map of Paris, in pink no less.
Here it is in a bedroom...love!  This goes along with the newest trend of maps in kid spaces.  I can't wait to show you the map I'm using in a clients little girls nursery...it is a winner!
